actually it was built and commissioned by australians, and opened by the Queen.

White (later Sir Ernest), proposed that a Memorial be erected to express the thanks of the Australian people to the United States of America for its contribution to the defense of Australia. The late J.B. Chifley, then Prime Minister of Australia, supported the proposal."
so not exactly a gift from the Americans, more a gift from us to them.

Its still a bird being stabbed by a pencil, or bugs bunny, possibly just another phallic symbol to add to our collection
Scientist, if it was a gift from US to THEM, I wish they'd though to take it away with them.
They didn't want it. It didn't have a picture of the president on it.
